Neverside Development Continuing

Hi everyone - this is Dave (AbsoluteCross), admin and owner of Neverside.

As you have likely heard, our Project Manager for Neverside, Shawn Lockeheart, as well as several of our great staff members have decided to move on to other things - they will be greatly missed. It is our intent though to continue with the development of Neverside, while adopting a new approach that will hopefully inspire and encourage our staff, and enable us to make the elusive "progress" we have lost sight of. In light of Shawn's departure, I will be resuming my full duties as administrator, and will take over leading the ongoing development of Neverside.

Our lead programmer Jeremie Pelletier and I, as well as all of Neverside's staff, spoke extensively today, and we are already getting on track with a new method and approach for developing Neverside. It will be our goal from this point forward to focus the primary energy of our core developers on finalizing a single function of the site at a time, instead of a broad array of incomplete features. No more release dates to miss, just the gradual and successful completion of all necessary functions of the site; the small accomplishments that will build up together into something much greater. Having built a solid, stable foundation, we will then move forward with the larger goals and projects of Neverside.

In part, what has occurred has been an "overload factor" in having such a seemingly insurmountable project on the table in front of us - if you have far too much on your plate to even think straight, then nothing will get done at all, much less the whole thing. As mentioned above, this will be what our new approach to development will seek to overcome.

Without going into too many technical details, our team would like to assure you that the features you need most, in regard to the Forum and Studio are on the way, and as soon as possible. We would like to thank all of our terrific members who have stuck with us for so long, offering us support and encouragement. You guys are what makes Neverside tick, and we appreciate you all.

Good man AbsoluteCross, I knew it would continue. Nothing is going to let Neverside drop.

Nothing.

No offense to Locke intended, but I'd love to see where AbsoluteCross is going to take us. He had the ability to start the community in the first place and grow it to what, 25000 members? I've never had direct contact in any way with you Dave, but there's something about you bud that makes you stand out above everyone else. If the staff and developers of Neverside are still willing to keep going, then by all means go for it. I only suggested going back to TF if the project was going to be halted.

I would love to offer my graphic and php/mysql help, but I'm working on my own forum engine right now (with basic OOP usage; it's been a learning project as I go along), so won't consider offering to help since I don't think I could fulfill my promises. Plus I don't think a bunch of new staff members are going to help much, if anything that would make things worse.

yeah tutorialforums was the bomb, and i liked the lighter template for my surfing and such. i have some ideas to put in the suggestions area and i think everyone else should post their thoughts there too. you can't please everyone, but you can make it cross browser platform, allow for limited but easy to use customization of how the site looks, and have awesome navigation with links that work! heh Cool Cheesy

im lookin forward to see what comes next.
