The Spirit Carries On The Spirit Carries OnWritten by JeremieOn October 8th, 2005 12:42 PM in Community News I'm not going to make a long news post or anything, I just wish to express my feelings towards Shawn's leave. Yesterday, I learned from the news post that Shawn was leaving. I wont lie to you guys, I was speechless as I was reading his post. But I have to admit I saw it coming all along, I've just been too blind to pay attention to it and took everything for granted. There are many things that leads to Shawn decision, and I do respect it, even if I wish he stayed. All these years we've been working together, Shawn has been training me in one way or another, he's been training me to be on my own. I learned more from him in those years than from anyone else in my entire life, and I will always be grateful to him for that. But during the past months, I could feel that Shawn was less and less present, his ideas were not flowing like they used to be, and the time he spent online was decreasing everyday. I know I play a big part in Shawn decision. As Shawn told me yesterday, I grew too dependant of him. It now is time for me to fly on my own and do what he trained me for all these years. I wish to dedicate this news post to Shawn, you've been a source of inspiration and motivation to us all bro. I wish you the best of luck in your new project. I have been visiting this site for months now and I havn't seen any decent updates. The studio for example, where are all the promised features? You guys must be spending like 1hour a week on it. you have had weeks and weeks, infact I should say months and months to implement a PM system and still nothing. You guys THINK YOU ARE THE COMMUNITY when infact your not, stop wasting the communitys time and get your act together. Sorry to sound harsh but what if google suddenly chaged their homepage to "redoing things back soon", google would go from #1 to bottom in no time. People would say it is a joke, which is what is going to happen to neverside. Neverside are going through some hard times at the moment and you're posts are exactly what we don't need. We are totally aware that no new features have been released for months, and that things aren't as promised, but we are working on it. From now onwards, as AbsoluteCross said, things are going to be taken one step at a time. I urge you to stay with us for the next few weeks, because Neverside has only just begun. I know I was one of the members who was so opposed to the resignation of Shawn and the others, but I decided to calm down and sleep on this issue. And do you want to know what I thought when I woke up? It's just a phase, and me saying that we need them, that we're nothing without them isn't what this community needs. In fact, this community needs optimists, people who look forward to the future to lead the rest of the community. Now, I'm probably not the person for that role, but I know damn well I am ready to help make Neverside what it was meant to be in the beginning. And I know you all are too. Time to stomach in this big news, and move on with our lives. But for those of you who are leaving, it has been fun! And you know I'll miss you. October 8th, 2005 07:17 PMhehe, i'm not angry at all, about the resignation or otherwise...what my main concern is that things won't change. this community, if you can call it one, has been stagnant for quite some time. the resignation of members that influenced such growth and promise with tutorialforums is unfortunate, but not critical. what is critical is how this will be handled administratively. there should be a sense of urgency within that core group to get things where they should have been some time ago...if not, then the 'community' should be reconsidered. _____________________ October 8th, 2005 07:29 PM Luke you do realize that these people contributed weeks.. months.. years worth of quality time into this 'community project' or as Locke said "Dave's, Akash's, Brian's and Robouk's" project and this is done at their own will, they will-not/don't get much in return apart from satisfaction and great accomplishment - actully very good things to acknowledge. As for Lockes 'chapter'. I wish him and his followers all the best in their new adventures. I've left proper instructions on where to go from here, Dave and Jeremie conversed and they have realigned their strategy to one it 'should have been', but due to poor communication, well there ya go.
